PRODUCT SUMMARY
RxVitamins RxD3 is a liquid formula, provided in a dropper bottle, that contains Vitamin D3, considered by most to be the more active form than Vitamin D2. Vitamin D3 has been found in dogs and cats to have a variety of benefits, including influencing serum calcium levels and reducing cancer risk. Unlike people, dogs and cats do not convert vitamin D in their skin following exposure to ultraviolet light. For that reason they are completely dependent upon dietary sources or supplement sources of Vitamin D3.
PRODUCT APPLICATIONS
RxD3 can be used to increase blood levels of Vitamin D3 for health and wellness when serum levels are measured in the low and low normal range by the VDI Labs Spot test.
PRODUCT PRECAUTIONS
Vitamin D3 is a very powerful vitamin supplement and has the potential to be toxic when given too frequently or in too large an amount over time. Without having a baseline serum Vitamin D level determination with the VDI Labs test kit, it may not be safe to supplement with RxD3. It is recommended that in 10 weeks you retest your pet's Vitamin D levels to be certain they are in the recommended healthy range.
PRODUCT USE
The National Research Council (NRC) has established a safe daily level of supplementation in the dog of 22 IU/kg of body weight daily (11 IU/pound of body weight daily), but it is best to determine the baseline serum vitamin D levels, because each dog or cat's diet provides different amounts of vitamin D to contribute to their baseline level measurement.
NOTE: This is a veterinary specific formula containing 100 IU per drop, and 3000 IU per milliliter.
